BUS 399 School of Business Internship

Credit Internships in Business

Since 1990, the School of Business has offered the Internships in Business (ACC399 and BUS399) to students pursuing a major or minor in Accounting, Business Administration, and Economics.  This program is designed to provide students the opportunity to receive academic credit for a meaningful career-related experience in a variety of organizational settings.  It is expected that students will practice and expand upon their knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in a substantive work situation. This experience should provide a better understanding of business, as well as not-for profit organizations, facilitating the transition from the classroom to the career environment.  Internships are a great way to learn! Students can earn money, credit, and/or increased marketability for the permanent job search while learning more about a specific field and applying classroom knowledge in a corporate environment. Companies have the opportunity to evaluate student interns for full-time openings.

Students interested in pursuing the Internship in Business (ACC399 or BUS399) for academic credit must:

  • have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours,
  • have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.5, and
  • be enrolled as a major or minor in the Accounting, Business Administration (Interdisciplinary Business), Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, or Marketing programs within the School of Business.

Students may submit a request to complete up to four credits per internship experience; for each credit of experience, you must complete 50 hours of experience at the internship site (1 credit hour = 50 hours of experience; 2 credit hours = 100 hours of experience; 3 credit hours = 150 hours of experience; 4 credit hours = 200 hours of experience).  Students cannot enroll for more than four (4) internship credits in a given semester.  Registration for the Internship must be done IN PERSON; please contact the following internship coordinators for more information:

  • For students interested in ACC399: Internship in Accounting, you must schedule a meeting with Dr. Nouri (contact information: hnouri@tcnj.edu, 609-771-2176, or 229 Business Building).
  • For students interested in BUS399: Internship in Business, you must schedule a meeting with Coordinator of Student Services Erica Kalinowski (contact information: ekalinow@tcnj.edu, 609-771-2882, or 114 Business Building).

Note: If you are pursuing a non-credit internship experience, you still need to contact either Dr. Nouri or Ms. Kalinowski.

The School of Business has partnered with the Office of Career Services in developing a database for School's Internship program.  Career Services offers students and employers on-line access to LionsPro - the web-based internship and employment resource.  Students are encouraged to register for LionsPro in order to gain access to this internship information.  The School of Business and the Office of Career Services hopes that the Internship program provides you the opportunity to get valuable experience and to help you realize the many benefits of a program that connects education with the corporate world.  For more information regarding LionsPro, please contact the Career Services Center at (609) 771-2161.
