Co-Curricular Opportunities    Lion

Business Professions Program

The School of Business implemented the Business Professions Program in the Fall 2006 semester. All entering Freshmen will be required to participate in this exciting program. Structured workshops and activities will provide students with skills necessary to succeed in today's business environment. We highly recommend that all students complete an internship at some point during their academic program or career.

Sophomore Colloquia

The weekly sophomore business colloquium for the School of Business is conducted each spring semester as part of the four year noncredit Business Professions Program. The mandatory attendance seminar series is designed to challenge incoming students with current issues related to an ever changing global economy and their ultimate integration as tomorrow’s business leaders. Students are exposed to prominent business leaders and lively debate is encouraged.

Business Scholars Program

The Business Scholars Program was implemented in the fall of 2005. The program admitted students for the Class of 2009 and 2010 with a minimum SAT of 1400, a top 5% high school class rank, community service involvement, extracurricular activities, and two letters of recommendation. The program offers students unique and challenging co-curricular and academic activities designed to enhance their problem solving and critical thinking skills along with teamwork and leadership exercises.

Honor Societies

Every spring, deserving students are invited to be inducted into the following Honor Societies: Beta Gamma Sigma; The Financial Management Association National Honor Society; and Omicrom Delta Epsilon, the National Honor Society for Economics. Click here to view the listing of recent Honor Society Inductees, and induction ceremony photos.

The Lion's Apprentice

The School of Business premiered The Lion’s Apprentice in the Spring 2006, forming partnerships on campus as well as with members of the business community, to take teaching outside the classroom with real-world challenges. To date, the projects have been realistic and geared towards identifying students’ leadership skills and their abilities to deal with conflict and risk taking. The Lion's Apprentice will return for its third season in Fall 2007.

Entrepreneurship Programs

In Spring 2007 The School of Business and Small Business Development Center at The College of New Jersey co-sponsored a campus-wide Business Plan Competition. Student Business Plans were evaluated by an independent panel of judges, representing both the campus and business communities.

The Young Entrepreneur Success Stories Program - co-sponsored by the School of Business, the Small Business Development Center, and the student E-Club - premiered in Spring 2008.

Student Organizations

Campus Activities boasts well over one hundred active organizations on campus. These organizations work hard to bring hundreds of events to The College of New Jersey's campus every year. Check out the complete TCNJ Student Organization List to find out more about specific organizations.
