Both the shield and the wordmark form the College logo. They are designed to be used together as a
unit. The size relationship of the shield and the wordmark is intended to support
readability—even in very small applications.
The vertical treatment of the logo—in
which the shield is postioned over the type, with the lower point of the shield aligning with
the center of the O—is preferred for all uses in which the format allows it.
Where vertical space is at a premium, the more horizontal configuration—in which
the shield is positioned to the left of the wordmark—may be used.

In certain situations—which must be approved by the Office of College
and Community Relations—the shield may be used alone. Examples might include
featuring only the shield on the cover of a publication (with or without
a title or other identifier), as a logo on a promotional item, as a watermark on
special letterhead, or in on-campus applications such as signs or special
decorative items.
Use of the shield alone should be supported by the appearance
of the entire logo (shield and wordmark) where feasible (i.e., the back of
a publication, in the approved location on letterhead, etc.).
The wordmark should not be used without the shield.
Variations on the use of the logo may appear in admission recruitment
publications and other materials approved by the Office of College and
Community Relations.
