Bridging Scholarships for Study in Japan

www.colorado.edu/ealld/atj/Bridging/scholarships.html assists students with travel and living expenses while they study in Japan. Undergraduates studying in any field are eligible to apply, and Japanese language study is not a pre-requisite.

DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst)

An organization of German higher educational organizations, it provides information about and financial support for study in Germany at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Freeman-Asia Awards

www.iie.org/pgms/freeman-asia are made to undergraduates (not including graduating seniors) who receive financial aid or have verifiable need for financial assistance to study in Asia. Limited to study in: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.

Fulbright

http://us.fulbrightonline.org/home.html offers recent graduates and graduate students support for year-long programs of study or research abroad. Also includes opportunities to teach English in non-English speaking countries. Campus representative: Dr. Nancy Freudenthal, Office of Academic Affairs, x2720

Gates Cambridge

http://www.gatesscholar.org/ supports either postgraduate study or a second bachelor's degree at Cambridge University (UK). Gates Scholars are expected to become leaders in addressing problems related to health, equity, technology, and learning.

Gilman International Scholarship Program

www.iie.org/gilman provides support for undergraduates studying abroad for a summer, semester, or academic year. Applicants must be Pell Grant recipients.

Marshall Scholarships

http://www.marshallscholarship.org supports United States citizens for two years of graduate study at a British university. All academic disciplines are eligible. Mitchell Scholarships

www.us-irelandalliance.org/scholarships.html provides support for one year of graduate study at an institution of higher learning in Ireland or Northern Ireland. All academic disciplines are eligible.

National Security Education Program (NSEP)—David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships

http://www.iie.org/nsep provides support for a summer, semester, or year of study abroad in countries other than Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Preferred fields of study include: applied sciences and engineering; business and economics; computer information systems; health and biomedical sciences; mathematics; and the social sciences. Recipients are expected to take a job in a national security position or in a field of higher education.

Phi Kappa Phi

http://www.phikappaphi.org/Web/Scholarships/studyabroad.html makes awards of $1,000 for study at an accredited international institution. Applicants must have earned between 56 and 90 credits and a minimum GPA of 3.5. All academic disciplines are eligible.

Rhodes Scholarships

www.rhodesscholar.org support two years of graduate study at Oxford University (UK). In addition to outstanding academic accomplishments, this program is looking for applicants who are "physically, intellectually and morally capable of leadership." Rotary

http://www.rotary.org/foundation/educational/amb_scho/index.html Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships can support:  1) one year of study abroad; 2) two years of degree-oriented study in another country; or 3) three months of intensive language study and cultural immersion. The primary objective is "to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries."

www.tcnj.edu/~njscis The New Jersey State Consortium for International Studies offers opportunities for study abroad (and some information about financial assistance).

Study in the United Kingdom

The British Council USA provides information on study opportunities in the UK including: semester or year abroad programs, undergraduate degree programs, graduate degree programs, and professional degree programs.  It also offers information on funding one's study in the UK.
