DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM

The Master of Science in Educational Technology is a unique degree program designed for college graduates holding one or more teaching certificates who wish to become leaders in the integration of computer technology into our schools. Candidates should be interested in confronting the digital-age challenges presented to our schools by gaining expertise and understanding in the areas of: using computer technology to enhance teaching and learning; authoring; the Internet; creating and implementing staff development programs; taking a leadership role in developing school district technology plans; assistive technology; promoting equity among all students regardless of gender, race or disability; identifying funding opportunities in technology at local, state, and national levels; and maintaining a strong professional network with other computer-using teachers around the state. This degree program supports The College of New Jersey's commitment to creating exemplary professionals for the 21st century.

PREREQUISITES

New Jersey teacher certification (or equivalent) in any of the following disciplines:  elementary education, early childhood education, secondary education (with a teachable major), special education, music education, art education, health education, physical education, technology education. Demonstrated competencies in Educational Computing and Technology Literacy.

GRADUATING FROM THE ED TECH PROGRAM

Completing all the requirements of the program

You need to check with your advisor that you have completed all the requirements for your program. You are not ready to graduate if you have even one course or even a one credit independent study left to complete.

Applying for graduation

You must apply for graduation using TESS and submit the Conferment of Degree form. There are three graduation times each school year: May, August and December. May applications are due in January, August applications are due in February and December applications are due in September. The graduation application fee is $75.00. Students who apply after the application deadline will be charged a $35.00 late fee.

Prerequisites

If you had prerequisite courses that you were asked to complete as a part of this program, submit the transcripts related to those courses to Amy Dell at the beginning of the semester when you are graduating.
