Application Procedures
The application procedure to study abroad at TCNJ is a two tier process. Students must first be accepted by TCNJ to study abroad. TCNJ considers academic eiligibility, maturity, overall health and the appropriateness of the selected program for each student. Once accepted by TCNJ, TCNJ submits the student's application to the appropriate program provider on behalf of the student. The student must then be accepted into the program by the respective program provider.
Academic Eligibility
To study abroad, a student must have a minimum 2.5 GPA overall prior to their semester abroad. Some programs require a higher grade point average. Students must have been enrolled for credit during at least two consecutive semesters immediately before the semester or year abroad.
Application Process
Below you will find an application checklist to help you keep all the application requirements organized. You should download the forms, print them and turn them in to Green Hall 111 by the deadline. If your application has a home school nomination form, The Office of International and Off Campus Programs will complete this form after you turn in your application materials.
APPLICATION DO'S & DON'TS:
- DO submit an extra copy of your ENTIRE APPLICATION PACKET (except your transcript/letters of reference)
- DO NOT submit you application directly to your program provider
- DO leave extra time for references to be completed (at least 1 MONTH prior to the deadline)
- DO leave extra time for the Academic Evaluation form to be completed
- DO make sure you submit the correct program application form
- DO submit a hard copy of any application form you completed ON-LINE
- DO READ OUR WEBSITE CAREFULLY!
- DO check for additional items your program requires, such as application fees, passport photots, reference forms, essay topics, etc.
- DO NOT turn in any form without signing it.
- DO NOT submit a transcript labelled "Issued to Student". It must be an official, SEALED transcript from Records and Registration.
- DO NOT STAPLE ANY FORMS YOU SUBMIT!

Available On-Line Form to be filled out by your personal physician or by a practicioner at TCNJ Health Services. TCNJ Health Services will provide a physical free of charge even if you do not receive Student Health Insurance. To make an appointment:
*For students applying for ISA programs ONLY- You must submit the ISA Medical Exam Form IN ADDITION to the TCNJ medical exam form. BRING BOTH forms with you to your appointment.*

| Academic Evaluation Form | Available On-Line Click here for help in determining what courses are being offered abroad at your host university. Indicate the courses you will be taking at the host institution equivalent to those you would be taking at TCNJ. The form must be completed and returned to International & Off-Campus Programs upon receipt of the required signatures. Bring the form and course descriptions to:
** While the student is abroad their account will reflect 12 credits to maintain their full-time status at TCNJ. Once the transcript from the host institution has been received by Records and Registration it is evaluated and courses and credits are adjusted on the TCNJ transcript.** |

| Housing Proxy Form | Available On-Line Whether you intend to live on campus or not upon your return, sign the Student Exchange Housing Proxy Form and include it in your application. Signing this form and entering the lottery does not guarantee an on-campus housing placement. |

| Program Price Sheet | Be sure to ask for a price sheet for your program and the estimated additional costs such as books and personal expenses. The Office of International & Off-Campus Programs (Green Hall, Room 111) will have program price sheets and estimated expenses for all but a few programs. |
| Program Cost &Financial Aid Form | Available On-Line (The "Program Cost & Financial Aid Form" is used for TCNJ office purposes only. You DO NOT need to send this to your school as part of your application and IS NOT required by the February 27th deadline.) To find your Financial Aid or scholarship award amount, sponsor and all other information, you can go on TESS under “Student Records, Bill and Personal Information Access”. There you will see a category for “Financial Aid”, which lists everything from your Financial Aid summary to your Award History by year and cost of attendance. You will need this information to fill out the form to the left.
