The Department of Counselor Education at The College of New Jersey is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) in the following program areas: Community Counseling and School Counseling.

The Community Counseling option has specialization's in Human Services (CPSE) and Alcoholism and Substance Abuse and Addiction Counseling (CPSD). Depending on the specialization chosen, Community Counseling option students are prepared for positions in community and government agencies, higher education, business, and substance abuse programs.
