Long Term Care Insurance

The Long Term Care Insurance Plan became effective July 1, 2002, for State Employees, State retirees, and their family members. The Prudential Insurance Company of America administers the Plan. The State of New Jersey Long Term Care Insurance Plan was designed to provide the greatest degree of flexibility in choosing the care needed. The Plan helps pay for care that is delivered in the home, at an adult care center, in an assisted living facility, or in a nursing home. Enrollment in the Plan is optional and you and your family members will be responsible for the premiums should you or they choose to enroll.

Full-time employees and faculty members of most of the State's colleges and universities should apply for the coverage within the 90-day period following their date of hire.

If you apply immediately after being hired, you will be able to apply for coverage using a short-form application which requires limited information about your health.

All other employees, including those who could have applied for the coverage within the 90-day period following their date of hire by submitting the short-form application but did not do so, can apply at any time using the long-form application which requires more detailed information about your health.

More information and enrollment kits can be obtained by calling Prudential's Long Term Care Customer Service Center at 1-800-732-0416 or visit NJ Division Pensions and Benefits web site.
