Web Application Development Process
- Submit Request - Request is submitted through the Web Development Request Form.
- Committee Review - Request is reviewed by a committee consisting of managers within Information Technology. They will discuss the scope of the project and the decide if it falls within the realm of Web Initiatives.
- Project Assigned to Web Initiatives - If the project is assigned to Web Initiatives it starts the development process on our part.
- Project Meeting - An initial meeting will need to take place to discuss exact details of the project and to find the best way to approach it.
- Initial Design Estimated Timeline - Web Initiatives will create a sample interface in html to show how the product will look. This is so that we can receive approval from the requestor on the functionality and look of the product before any actual coding is involved. Web Initiatives will then break the project into tasks. An estimated amount of time will be given to each task which creates a timeline. This timeline is an estimate and not always concrete depending on the scope of the project and any additional changes by the requestor later on.
- Development - Each task in turn will be developed. As tasks are completed the requester will be informed. Meetings can be arranged to discuss progress depending on the size of the project.
- Revisions/Troubleshooting - As all of the tasks are completed the project can then be tested and altered as necessary. Once all revisions and troubleshooting have been accomplished it leaves a finished product.
- Implementation - Web Initiatives will help in connecting the project to current departmental websites. Web Initiatives also works closely with College & CommunityRelations in case links need to be added to the main campus webpage.
- Training -The requestor will be trained in how to use the finished product. This will include all basic user interfaces and administrative functions. The requestor will be provided with documentation. The requesting department is responsible for the training the end user on how to use the application. All calls or emails received regarding the use of the program should be referred to the requesting department. Any bugs or erorrs in the system should be referred to the Help Desk who will then contact Web Initiatives with the information.
