The Chemistry Databases page lists both recommended and related databases that will help you locate scholarly journal articles.

The College of New Jersey Library subscribes to variety of chemistry journals , both print (Word Document) and electronic.

For looking up the journal title abbreviation you might want to use the following resources:

CASSI: Chemical Abstract Source Service Index Ref QD1.C4

JAS - Journal abbreviation sources online.

If you know the Title of the Journal or have a citation, you can check to see if we have a subscription.

Books, Videos & More

Search the TCNJ Library Catalog to find books and videos on Chemistry. If you are having trouble finding books or videos, ask a librarian for help at the reference desk located on the Main Level of The College of New Jersey Library or use our Ask a Librarian e-mail form.

The following are some examples of Library of Congress Subject Headings that can be used to find additional sources.

  • Chemistry, Analytic
  • Chemistry Experiments
  • Chemistry, Forensic
  • Chemistry, Inorganic Laboratory Manuals

Go to Find Books Videos & More on the homepage, click on Basic Search, plug the headings in the search box and select "Subject Heading Browse" in the drop-down menu, click search and browse titles listed under the subject heading.

Other Chemistry Resources

Current Awareness:

Scicentral is a gateway to the best scientific research news sources. Scan today's top science news or browse by scientific area.

Almost 80% of chemistry literature is in the form of patents; "What every chemist should know about patents" gives a brief and interesting insight into the world of patents.

The 'Educators & Students' and the 'Enthusiasts' sections at Chemistry.org are worth a look for their interesting and informative articles.

Chemical and Engineering News : Weekly news magazine published by the American Chemical Society. An interesting column "What's that stuff?" takes a look at the chemistry behind everyday products. The print copies are available in the Current Periodicals section of the library.

Journal of chemical education: Available both electronically through the library homepage and in print. Articles include reviews of new areas of chemistry, methods for teaching difficult concepts, discussions of learning theory, lecture demonstrations, computer programs, course outlines, and new laboratory experiments.

Newscientist - Check out Hot Topics, The Last Word and Weblinks for some cool stuff.

Chemical Science - This Royal Society of Chemistry supplement draws together coverage from all RSC Publications, to provide a 'snapshot' of the latest developments across the chemical sciences.

Tetrahedron letters: Available electronically through the library's homepage. Browse weekly the developments in techniques, structures, methods and conclusions in experimental and theoretical organic chemistry across the world.

Move from the global to the regional to the local by browsing the Science Sections of newspapers like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Star Ledger, HomeNews Tribune.
