Dr. Michael Mendoza is an Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at TCNJ where he teaches:

Under the direction of Dr. Mendoza, the TCNJ Chorale, made up of auditioned undergraduate music and non-music majors, has toured the Middle Atlantic States, New England, eastern Canada, and England.  Reviews of the ensemble have included such comments as “…the College Chorale…makes a remarkably full-bodied and resonant sound…the men’s chords are spine-tingly rich…a tip of the hat to conductor Michael Mendoza for his work…”  The American Record Guide, and “… (the TCNJ Chorale) has breathtaking clarity and warmth…”  The Trenton Times.

In 2004, Dr. Mendoza recorded a double CD compilation of selected choral works performed by the TCNJ Chorale in concerts from 1993-2002 under his direction.  All of the works on this CD, Chorale Reflections, 1993-2002, were previously recorded on the CDs: In Concert, produced in 1995; Sing, We, produced in 1998; Sing, We 2, produced in 2001; and Sing, We 3, produced in 2003.  Of this outstanding compilation CD, Dr. Mendoza commented, “Each moment of a live choral experience has the potential to produce a lifelong effect on the student performer or listener, and while no recording can substitute for a performance, it may be the closest we can come to experiencing the music once again.”

Dr. Mendoza has over two dozen choral works published, some of which are included in the ACDA Monograph No. 11—“The Foundation of Artistry: An Annotated Bibliography of Distinctive Choral Literature for High School Mixed Choirs.”  His choral works have been sung by All State Choirs throughout the country.  In addition, Dr. Mendoza is a contributing composer and author to the choral textbook series Experiencing Choral Music published by Hal Leonard Music Publishers in conjunction with Glencoe/McGraw Hill Book Publishers.  He is also a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA).
