iPass
In an effort to reduce costs associated with dial-in access while traveling on official College business, Information Technology has partnered with a national dial-up Internet provider - iPass. The iPass service offers local dial-up Internet access from almost any city across the nation. With iPass you can access the College's network to check email or access SOCS. Please fill out an iPass Remote Dial-up Account Request Form
to apply.
Information Technology is installing the iPass client on all College laptops for Faculty and Staff use while they are traveling on official College business.
Laptops loaned out through User Support Services have the iPass client installed and an iPass login/password pre-configured.
Faculty and Staff who have been provided a College laptop will have the iPass client installed by User Support Services. The department Support Specialist will schedule this installation. These users may request an iPass login and password each time they need it for traveling on College business.
The iPass service was chosen for its ease of use. The iPass client is pre-configured with phone numbers for many locations nation-wide. Just plug in the laptop's modem, open the iPass client, enter the State, City and Area Code you're calling from, and the system will provide you with a local dial-in number. If needed, iPass specific instructions
are available.
If you have any questions or for more information on the iPass system, please contact the Information Technology Help Desk at x2660. Information Technology is pleased to serve you and help the College reduce costs associated with travel.
