The one-line description of sci.engr is "technical discussions of engineering tasks." That's translated over eleven-plus years and dozens of spinoff groups into discussions of topics like those given in the FAQs here, as well as computer software, jobs, reference books, measurement devices, methodologies, working environments, and almost everything else the engineer faces.
Unfortunately, the newsgroups have been increasingly flooded over the years with spam, to the point where they are no longer suitable for most engineers to use. It's for this reason that sci.engr is no longer mentioned on this Web site.
Ron Graham's Rhetoric for Engineers and Other Practical People
...is available FREE! You can use the online version (v. 1.5) HERE, or you can have an e-book copy of your own (v. 2.0, PDF), so you can use it without connecting to the Internet! Are you having trouble with any of this?
- Hiring the right people?
- Training new people?
- Motivating people?
- Finding and developing ideas?
- Entering a new market?
- Communicating with customers?
- Finding out what data is telling you?
- Getting technology to work with you?
- Bouncing back from mistakes?
- Anticipating problems?
The solutions to all these problems are based in rhetoric -- the art of argument. The free e-book, Rhetoric for Engineers and Other Practical People will help you, but if it's not enough, let ME help you. I'm available for consultation, and I've got experience in all these areas. But don't take my word for it. Look over the book first. If the book doesn't give you some idea of what I can do, just ignore me. But if the book has some value, imagine what the writer can give! Send e-mail to rgraham AT tcnj DOT edu.

Have you ever wondered
- Where ideas come from?
- Why some people move on an idea and others don't?
- How new companies raise money?
- How prototypes are developed?
- Whether all new companies look like the ones spotlighted in the media?
- What history lessons the new business owner must learn?
- What engineers know that can help a small company?
The answers to these questions have been the study of my life for the last four years. My blog, start me up!, has been condensed into a 300-page e-book, and you can have it. If that's not enough, let ME help you. I'm available for consultation, and I've got experience in all these areas. But don't take my word for it. Look over the book first.
