Open Option in Science
'Open Option' gives students the opportunity to explore various areas of study, while earning credits toward graduation. Statistics have shown there is no difference between those students who enter TCNJ as Open Option and those who select a major while still in high school, with respect to SAT scores and class rank, gpa at graduation from TCNJ, and the length of time to graduate. However, Open Option students, once they have selected a major, tend to switch major less than other students. The following pages contain useful information for those students, who wish to pursue some field of science, but need to explore and experience a variety of areas before making that decision.
- Welcome Letter
- Open Option Program School of Science
- First Year Courses for Science Majors
- "Computing Rich" Majors

Open Option Peer Mentors
Each of these students entered TCNJ as an Open Option Science student and has since declared a major. These students, or students like them, will be available to incoming freshmen during the SCI099 seminar to help with questions and decision making.
