Reporting Crimes & Emergencies

IN CASE OF FIRE, POLICE, OR MEDICAL EMERGENCY

DIAL 9-1-1

FROM ANY CAMPUS PHONE or PAY PHONE

General Information

Please note that dialing 9-1-1 from a cellular phone will connect you to New Jersey State Police Headquarters.  While you will ultimately be put in contact with the police department within whose jurisdiction you are located, precious time can be lost during this process.  If the only phone available to you is a cell phone, we encourage you to dial (609) 771-2167 to be put into contact with Campus Police.  You may find it helpful to program this phone number into the phone book in your cell phone, so that it is easily dialed.  Of course, if your only option is to dial 9-1-1 from your cell phone, please do not hesitate to do so.

All calls to 9-1-1 will be answered by a dispatcher certified as a National Communications Institute Basic Communications Officer.  All dispatchers are also certified in New Jersey Emergency Medical Dispatch Protocol, so that they may provide medical instructions to callers while medical assistance is en route.  These two qualifications are mandated by the State of New Jersey.

All other non-emergency requests for police services should be made by calling extension 2167 from any on-campus phone, or by dialing (609) 771-2167 from off campus. Inquiries may also be made in person at Campus Police Headquarters at the Administrative Services Building Room 105.

Emergency services may also be obtained by using any one of the emergency phones on campus. These can be easily recognized by the blue light on top of the phone station.
