Fred Hersch Ensemble at TCNJ

As part of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass: The Sesquicentennial Symposium, the Fred Hersch Ensemble will perform Hersch's original jazz composition Leaves of Grass on Friday, September 23, 2005 at 8:00 pm in Kendall Hall.

Lauded by The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The New Yorker, Hersch has been described by Downbeat magazine as "one of the small handful of brilliant musicians of his generation."

At The College of New Jersey, Hersch will lead a ten piece ensemble in his original interpretation of Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Featuring vocalists Bradley Fox and Kate McGarry, along with an instrumental octet, Hersch's composition has been described by The Washington Post as "an eloquently orchestrated celebration of Walt Whitman's poetry, vision and, above all else, humanity."
