February 2007 ~ Choral Methods Seminar with James Moyer

For five weeks ACDA hosted Mr. James Moyer, in a seminar on Choral Methods. Nearly 30 students turned out each week to learn all they could on the basics of running a successful choral music program. Mr. Moyer has nearly 20 years of experience teaching in public schools and was happy to share is knowledge with the students. Topics ranged from group vocal technique to copyright information to how to take a choir on tour. Everyone was very grateful and came away with a wealth of knowledge which they can use in their future positions as music educators. We sincerely thank Mr. Moyer for all the time, energy, and resources he devoted to the seminar.

November 14, 2006 ~ "An Intro to Body Mapping" with Heather Buchanan

On Tuesday evening world famous conductor and body mapping expert Heather Buchanan gave a wonderful interactive presentation to a packed crowd in the choir room. Body Mapping is the study of one's self representation and deals with correct posture and alignment for musicians. Prof. Buchanan presented a wealth of information that was beneficial to everyone there, vocal and instrumental majors alike. She also shared with us her favorite books and other resources on the subject. The night was so well received that we plan to bring Prof. Buchanan back in the spring to discuss proper breathing techniques. February 26, 2006 ~ Mozart's 250th Birthday Concert Celebration

After many months of rehearsal and planning the Mozart concert was a huge success. Soloists, small ensembles, and a full choir all performed their finest work before a packed crowd in the Music Building Concert Hall. The event received fantastic reviews from students, faculty, and audience members alike. Here is what the chair of the TCNJ Music Department had to say about the evening:

Dear Students and Faculty,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped in the planning, execution, and performances for the Mozart Birthday Celebration last evening. Your hard work and dedication to this project is admirable. The entire concert was well organized, professional, and extremely enjoyable. I think that Herr Mozart would have been proud!
Thank you once again for all of your efforts and for giving of your time and talent.

Dr. Hickman

A big thank you to ACDA Vice President Jennifer Sengin for organizing this fantastic event!
