Communication Initiatives - School of Education
AY 2006-2007
Regular communication currently takes place between the Dean and the Director for User Support Services. There is also regular communication between the IT support specialist and the faculty for identifying issues, communicating any problems or changes, and problem solving.
The IT support specialist will rotate through the Education building periodically.
The support specialist for the School of Education will rotate through Forcina on a regular basis.
Fall 2006 Update
Support specialist rotates through Forcina regularly. No set office hours as in the past to allow for flexibility on both parts.
The support specialist will work with the Dean on a facilities request for permanent placement of the smart whiteboard in the Dean’s conference room.
The support specialist will contact the Dean to develop this request.
Fall 2006 Update
Support specialist will contact the Dean when Facilities budget is being developed.
The support specialist will convene a group from Counselor Education and ADEP to identify needs for counseling suite in Forcina 441.
There are currently 4 offices in a suite in Forcina 441 that will be used for group and individual counseling. There are technical needs that include computers and audio/video equipment. The support specialist will convene a group to develop the technology plan and replacement cycle for this space.
Fall 2006 Update
Support specialist met with group from Counselor Education and ADEP and worked with MTSS personnel to develop a budget for this project. Budget was submitted to the group in November 2006.
At the suggestion of the Dean of Education, IT will provide information to the campus community announcing the loaner programs for equipment, including digital cameras, laptops and video projectors.
IT will distribute this information along with an announcement for the new work at home licensing program in the next version of the Tech Talk newsletter.

IT will meet once per semester with the School of Education liaisons.
The AD for USS and the support specialist from IT will organize one meeting per semester with the IT liaisons of the five departments within the School of Education. The meeting will be to discuss the needs of the faculty in each of the respective departments. These periodic meetings will help IT better understand what the faculty would like to accomplish using technology and will also help the faculty members learn what initiatives are being undertaken by others on campus that may result in collaborative efforts.
