CINAHL
Evidence Based Research
- Select Advanced Search tab before starting
- Use CINAHL Headings option to find best terms
- After determining best term(s), click on "search database" button near top of screen
- Use Search History tab to combine terms
- Use Refine Search tab to Limit Your Results:
- Check box by Evidence-Based Practice
- Also consider using, Publication Type (e.g., Clinical trial, Research)
Qualitative Research
- Select Advanced Search tab before starting
- Use CINAHL Headings option to find best terms for your topic
- After determining best term(s), click on "search database" button near top of screen
- Use CINAHL Headings option again and enter term: Qualitative studies
- For articles using any type of Qualitative methods, check box next to "Explode," then click on "search database"
- For articles using a specific Qualitative method, click on method of interest, then click on "search database"
- Use Search History tab to combine topic terms and methodological terms

- Select appropriate dropdown option below In: (e.g., All Text)
- Scroll to Restrict Search by Product; selecting The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews for first search is recommended; if none found, try Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects next

- Select Find Systematic Reviews
- Enter terms in Search box, click Go
OR
- Select Search by Clinical Study Category
- Select appropriate Category
- Select narrow, specific search OR broad, sensitive search
- Enter terms in Search box, click Go
Qualitative Research
- Enter search terms for your topic, followed by the phrase qualitative research, then click Go
