Termination of Housing
Any student who terminates their housing is subject to the terms outlined in the Annual Residence Hall and Dining Service Contract , The Guide to Residence Living, and all other applicable college guidelines and procedures.
Withdrawals/Leave of Absences from The College
Any student withdrawing from The College is responsible for adhering to the official Withdrawal/Leave of Absence protocol of the Department of Residential Education and Housing. The steps of the protocol are outlined below:
Step 1: Complete an Intent to Withdraw Form. After we receive the form, we will start the withdrawal process and will contact you to schedule a telephone withdrawal interview.
Step 2: Participate in a withdrawal interview with a member of the Records & Registration staff.
Step 3: The student must visit their Residence Hall Director to inform him/her that they are withdrawing/taking a leave from The College and will be leaving residence.
Step 4: Within 48 hours of the student's submission of their Withdrawal/Leave of Absence Form to Records and Registration, the student must vacate their current housing assignment.
Step 5: To vacate their current housing assignment, the student must:
A. Remove all of their belongings from his/her room assignment, ensuring that the room is clean upon departure.
B. Report to their Hall Office to sign their Data Room Inventory Card (DRIC).
C. Turn in their room key to their Hall Office.
A student will continue to be charged for housing until they have officially completed the Withdrawal/Leave of Absence or Contract Release Protocol which includes properly checking out of the room and returning the key.

Contract Releases
Any student who is released from their Annual Residence Hall and Dining Service Contract is responsible for adhering to the official Contract Release protocol of the Department of Residential Education & Housing. The steps of the protocol are outlined below:
Step 1: The student must call or visit Housing Assignments in Eickhoff 114 to schedule an appointment with the Manager of Housing.
Step 2: During their appointment, the student will be provided with a Request for Contract Release form and other applicable paperwork.
Step 3: Upon submission of a completed Request for Contract Release form and all applicable documentation, Housing Assignments will review the student's request and render a decision within 10 business days.
If a student's request for a Contract Release is approved:
Within 48 hours of the student's approval notification, the student must vacate their current housing assignment.
To vacate their current housing assignment, the student must:
A. Remove all of their belongings from his/her room assignment, ensuring that the room is clean upon departure.
B. Report to their Hall Office to sign their Data Room Inventory Card (DRIC).
C. Turn in their room key to their Hall Office.
If a student's request for a Contract Release is NOT approved:
The student remains liable for room and board charges for the full academic year (Fall and Spring semesters).
A student will continue to be charged for housing until they have officially completed the Withdrawal/Leave of Absence or Contract Release Protocol which includes properly checking out of the room and returning the key.
Housing Refunds (for withdrawals/removals/approved contract releases):
* checking out of residence does not qualify as being released from a housing contract and will not result in a refund of housing fees
- A student leaving housing on or before the official last day of Add/Drop shall receive a 100 percent refund of applicable tuition and fees* paid.
- A student leaving housing after the official end of Add/Drop but before the end of the third week of classes in the fall and spring semesters shall receive a 75 percent refund of applicable housing fees paid.
- A student leaving housing after the official end of Add/Drop but before the end of the fifth week of classes in the fall and spring semesters shall receive a 50 percent refund of applicable housing fees paid.
- A student leaving housing after the fifth week of class shall receive no refund.
Residents who leave The College or are released from the room and board programs during a semester will be charged board at the following rates, dependent upon meal plan program selection:
- A La Carte: Students who select the A La Carte board program will be charged for board based upon the actual usage of their meal plan point dollars. All point dollars unused upon departure from residentce past the close of a semester are non-refundable.
- Carte Blanche: Students who select the Carte Blanche board program will be charged at a weekly rate for each week or fraction thereof in residence.
The student will be held responsible for defacement or damage to the room, common areas, and furnishings for which he/she contracts. The resident is responsible for acknowledging the condition of their room by signing the Data Room Inventory Card (DRIC). The resident will be billed for any damages.
Failure of a resident to return their room key may result in additional charges for a lock change to their residence hall assignment.
