Democratic Leadership Council: Political Outreach

DLC's political team identifies and works with the next generation of New Democrat leaders to develop and promote a new politics based on opportunity, responsibility, and community. Their growing networks include federal, state, and local elected officials, policy makers and policy experts, and community and opinion leaders.

Interns working with the Political Team will:

• Maintain and develop the New Democrat Local Officials Network (mayors and municipal officials) and the New Democrat State Elected Officials Network (lieutenant-governors, attorneys general and other statewide elected officials)
• Work with the Congressional Director on projects involving New Democrat Members of Congress
• Work with the State/Local Officials Coordinator on trips and projects involving New Democrat state and local elected officials throughout the country
• Work with the Western States Director on trips and projects involving New Democrat officials in California and the West
• Generate lists and maintain systems related to New Democrat networks
• Undertake Web and other research necessary to support political team projects
• Maintain promotional materials
• Play an integral role in planning and implementing major DLC political and other events
• Obtain political and legislative updates from the states
• Participate in and assist with special projects
• Assist all political team members in keeping files and databases current

Deadlines for applications are rolling except for summer. Please submit summer applications by March 1st. Applicants outside the tri-state area (DC-MD-VA) must be 18 years or older to participate in the DLC-PPI internship program.
