United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Communications Intern
The UFCW is a worker organization focused on issues dedicated to improving employment and living standards for all workers. They are building worker power in workplaces, communities and the political and legislative arenas to insure that workers and their families participate fully in the rewards of the economy they help sustain.
As a part of the communications team at United Food and Commercial Workers, the communication’s intern will:
- Manage various organizational projects, including the UFCW’s photo and video library and quote/spokesperson database.
- Write and/or edit web copy, articles for various UFCW publications, radio spots, fact sheets, handbills, flyers and other materials to support UFCW’s organizing, collective bargaining, and political action departments.
- Assist the director and staff in handling various communications requests from media, coalition partners, outside vendors, Local unions, and other departments on an as needed basis.
- Attend communication planning meetings with UFCW and coalition staff.
- Assist communications department staff in circulating news clips.
The ideal candidate will:
- Display an interest in the labor movement as well as an understanding of and an enthusiasm for the issues that are most important to working people.
- Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to write, edit, and proofread own work and the work of others.
- Have the ability to work on deadline and juggle multiple assignments.
- Possess an eye for detail and excellent organizing skills.
- Be enthusiastic, professional, and hardworking; and willing to take on both creative independent projects and administrative assignments with equal gusto.

Compensation: $12.00 per hour Duration: Up to six months. Posting closes when position is filled.
