Women’s Edge Coalition Global Opportunity for Women Campaign Internship Summer 2007

The Women’s Edge Coalition, a dynamic and cutting-edge international women’s organization, has an opening for an energetic intern to assist Senior Vice President, Katrin Kuhlmann, on the Global Opportunity for Women Campaign. The GO for Women Campaign forges innovative, collaborative partnerships between companies, nonprofit organizations, and governments to create economic opportunities for women around the world. This internship provides the unique opportunity to join the campaign as it works to expand the power of American consumers to “shop their values,” and, in turn, support the efforts of our campaign partners to improve women’s lives globally.

While day-to-day activities will include some administrative tasks to support the campaign, the intern will contribute enormously to substantive campaign projects and company/nonprofit partner management. Research in such areas as corporate social responsibility, labor issues, and fair trade will also comprise a significant portion of the internship.

Applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field. She/he must be highly organized, have an interest in international trade, development, and gender issues, very strong written/verbal communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple projects at once. Internship or work-related experience in business, marketing, and/or PR preferred, an interest in ethical fashion a plus.

For more information on the Global Opportunity for Women Campaign, visit their website at http://www.goforwomen.org.

Please send resume, cover letter and writing sample to the address below. Be sure the mention "Campaign Internship" in the subject line. All materials must be received by Monday, April 2, 2007. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

This is an unpaid internship starting in May/June 2007 and ending in August 2007. However, a small stipend will be offered to help cover the cost of daily expenses. We are an equal opportunity employer. Women and people of color are encouraged to apply. This position will remain open until it is filled.
