Women’s Edge Coalition Grassroots e-Organizing Internship Summer 2007


Learn and apply the techniques of online organizing in support of human rights and economic opportunity for women. The Women’s Edge Coalition is a dynamic and cutting-edge women’s organization based in Washington, DC. We advocate for policies that support women worldwide in their actions to end poverty in their lives, communities and nations.

They will be building support for two new bills in Congress: to build economic self-sufficiency for women worldwide, and to reduce gender-based violence. Working under the direct supervision of the Director of Outreach, the intern will help:

* Communicate with grassroots women across the U.S.
* Craft and disseminate action alerts.
* Conduct online research into target Congressional districts.
* Support grassroots actions to educate and influence members of Congress.

This is a fast-paced, substantive position and the intern will assume high levels of responsibility. At least 75% of the intern’s time is spent on outreach, communication and research; about 25% is administrative.

Qualifications:

• Commitment to women’s rights, justice and economic development.
• Prior activist experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Hard-working. Attention to detail.

Time commitment: 20 hours a week.
