Women’s Edge Coalition Marketing and Communications Internship Summer 2007

The Women’s Edge Coalition, a dynamic and cutting-edge international women’s organization based in Washington DC, seeks a summer intern to assist with communications and public relations work.

The Women’s Edge Coalition advocates for policies that support women worldwide in their actions to end poverty in their lives, communities and nations. Working with the Director of Communications, the intern will:

•Create and maintain a database of media contacts for the organization
•Help put together and mail out basic press kits
•Research internet-based public outreach strategies for the organization
•Catalog media mentions and organize publications and video materials
•Scan selected media weekly and track reporting on international women’s issues
•Assist in web marketing strategy of two new websites
•Help with other aspects of an evolving communications strategy

Qualifications:

* Commitment to women’s rights, justice and economic development.
* Excellent skills in written and spoken English.
* Completed a minimum of two years of undergraduate coursework in a related field; preference given to applicants with prior communications experience/ knowledge.
* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Internet research
* Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
* Attention to detail.
* Commitment of 20 hours per week or more.
