The School Year is Upon Us!

Next meeting: Thursday, September 1st @ 4:00pm

Well it's time to begin this new year of the ACM. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 1st, @ 4:00pm, in Holman Hall Room 117. I'm quite ready to see the new faces that join us. If you have any questions about the ACM please bring them, along with yourself, to the meeting, or send an email over to acm[.at.]tcnj.edu and I'll make sure it gets answered.

- Bryce, ACM President

September 5, 2005 @ 3:31PM

And we're up and running!

Next meeting: Thursday, September 8th at 4:00pm in HH117

As a re-cap of the first meeting. We're going to be hosting a Madden, Halo, and Super Smash Brothers tournament and open gaming session on September 22nd from 7:00pm till 12:00am, in Holman Hall rooms 252, and 253 with room 123 as a "flow-over" area with games and computers for generic internet access.

At the next meeting we're going to iron out for sure when we're meeting, so if you haven't been able to make it to the meetings so far, the times may very well change and they'll be continually posted to the website, and reminders will be sent through our mailing list.

If you want to subscribe to our mailing list it's simple!
Send an email to listproc@list.tcnj.edu
The body of the message should only contain:

subscribe ACM-L <your name>

So for example if your name was Jon Doe you would send an email (from your email account) with the body of the message saying "subscribe ACM-L Jon Doe" (without the quotes surrounding it) and you'd be all signed up!

Also on the agenda to be discussed at the meeting will be the creation of one or two SIGs (Special Interest Groups). I've had expressed to me that there is an interest in creating a game from scratch, now mind you that's one heck of a task and seems worthy of its own SIG. I also think that a Gaming SIG is in order to help iron out the upcoming gaming event and to help spread the word around campus.

Chug Chug Chugging Along

Next meeting: Thursday, September 15th at 4:00pm in HH117

So for a quick recap of this past ACM meeting. We have an ACM Facebook group, so if you're interested please join.

Soon we'll be adding a section for the previous meetings minutes to the website so keep an eye out for that popping up soon.

If you can loan us a system(s), game(s), or controller(s), for the night of either or both the 22nd and 29th please fill out this form.

We're going to try and have, Pizza, Chips, and soda at the event. After talking with a few people from Confrence and Meeting Services, and looking at some financining issues with the SFB we might not be able to hold the event till the following Thursday, which is the 29th. We will discuss this in more detail at the next meeting.

November 4, 2005 @ 9:02AM

New site!

Next meeting: Thursday, November 10th at 4:00pm in HH117

Hi everyone! This is Kate, your new webmaster (webmistress?). We've finally launched the new ACM website. As you can probably tell from clicking on the links, a few portions of this site are a little bare at the moment, namely the photos section and the work gallery. See this week's minutes for more details on what the work gallery is and how to contribute. If you have any photos you've taken at any ACM meetings or any ACM events, please email them either to acm [at] tcnj [dot] edu or me (lynch3 [at] tcnj [dot] edu).

- Kate, ACM Webmaster

January 22, 2006 @ 1:26PM

Welcome back!

Next meeting: Wednesday, January 25th at 2:00pm in HH117

Welcome back everyone! As you may see, we have changed the meeting times and days for the Association for Computing Machinery TCNJ chapter. We'll now be meeting on Wednesdays at 2:00PM. Be sure to attend the first meeting, it'll be really fun, promise.
Also, check out the Work Gallery for the first work entry. Fascinating stuff, however we'd really like to see work from our other members. If you have something to submit, please don't hesitate! Email it to the ACM or to the webmistress.

- Kate, ACM Webmaster

February 15, 2006 @ 4:56PM

Next meeting: Wednesday, February 22nd at 1:30pm in HH117

THERE WILL BE NO ACM MEETING WEDNESDAY THE 15th OF FEBRUARY. This is due to the fact that that will be a housing information session from 1:00 till 3:00 and many of the members (myself included) need to attend that meeting. However, NEXT WEDNESDAY there will be the election for Vice President. The two candidates are Kate Lynch and Chris Mezzacappa. Each will be giving a small speech iterating who they are, why they want to be Vice President and what makes them right for the position. At that point all present members will be able to vote, if you're not present then you will not have a voice in who becomes the Vice President. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.

Remember meetings start at 1:30 and are held Wednesdays in Holman Hall 117

- Bryce, ACM President

April 5, 2006 @ 7:56PM

Geek Auction, last meeting, and trip to the movies!

Next meeting: Wednesday, April 19th at 1:30pm in HH117

Hey all!

Great job with the Geek Auction last night! We made a HUGE profit for the ACM, which will be a great start for next year! We'll reveal the total earned tomorrow as well as go over the highlights.

Also, just ONE MORE REMINDER to come to the ACM meeting tomorrow at 1:30PM in HH117. It's going to be the LAST MEETING OF THE SEMESTER, so this is your last chance to hang out with us til next year! Even if you haven't been to many or any meetings this semester, this is the meeting to come to!

- Come meet the new Executive Board for next year, now in place.

- Give us your input on a new meeting time/day for next semester.

- Tell us what you'd like to see happen in ACM next year!

We're also planning a trip to the movies this Friday, April 21 to see Silent Hill as a group, as a sort of last farewell until the fall. If you want to come, it looks like we'll be leaving around 7:00PM from the school for a show probably around 7:40 or 8:00PM, since the showtimes aren't released until tomorrow. If you want to come and are interested in the definite details, come to the meeting tomorrow as we'll be discussing times and rides. If you can't come to the meeting tomorrow but are still interested in coming to the movies with us, email me or the ACM account.

Also, if you were auctioned last night, you need to come to the meeting tomorrow as we'll be talking to you briefly (5-10 minutes tops) about how to best go about cashing in on the skills you sold. We'll be keeping it short though so that people can go see Teresa Nakra speak in HH 252 after, if they want. It should be fun!

- Kate, ACM President

Looking forward to seeing all you guys again soon!

- Kate, ACM President

Events Updates and congratulations.

Next meeting: September 6, at 4:00PM

Hello all!

OK, a few announcements. First off, I want to thank Bryce Liskovec, last year's ACM president, for all of his hard work and diligence for ACM. Thanks a million, Bryce! Without you, the club would not have survived last year.

Also, please welcome Andrew Chiusano and Genevieve Kosanovich as interim ACM Treasurer and Secretary, respectively! Welcome aboard, both of you!

LollaNoBooza '06 is tomorrow night at 9:00PM. Computer Swings will most likely start between 9:00 and 10:00. Come out and show your support for the ACM and recycling by smashing an old computer or several.

The Snakes on a Plane movie trip will most likely be this Friday night. Since we have a couple of people willing to give rides, it looks like we won't be at the mercy of the Loop Bus, so we're thinking about going to a 7:00/7:30PM show. If you're interested in coming, email me or the ACM account. See you all soon!

- Kate, ACM President

August 29, 2006 @ 5:07 PM

Eastern State Trip Tickets!

Next meeting: Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at 4:00PM in Holman Hall, Room 252.

Hey guys, Just a reminder that we're going with CUB to ESP on Sunday, October 15. The bus will leave the Student Center at 6:45PM. The ACM will meet in front of the ATMs in the Student Center so we can sit together, go through as a group, etc. :) If you're coming with us, you need to buy your ticket beforehand. The tickets are on sale in the Student Center from 10:00AM until 4:00PM Monday through Friday at the CUB table in the atrium (The row of tables that start where you walk in). Tickets are $18 each. I believe that it's cash-only, though they will make change for you. If you want to come, I highly reccommend that you buy your ticket as soon as possible, like within the next 2-3 business days. This is a popular trip when CUB does it and tickets for it tend to sell out within a very short time! Once you buy your ticket, shoot an email to the ACM account so we know who is coming. We already have a fair-sized group, but we want to know who to expect in the Stud before we leave. :) This should be really fun! See you guys then!

- Kate, ACM President

Also, we're going to be going over the details for the Student Center Christmas sale we'll be having on December 7, 8, and 11 to help raise funds for private ACM-only events for next semester, so if you signed up to help table or if you're interested in hanging out with me, Andrew C., and some other non-board ACMers at the table for a little while on any of those days, stop by. Game Night Equipment Request

Next meeting: February 14 @ 7:00PM in Cromwell Main Lounge (Video Game Party!!)

Hey everyone,

We have most of the equipment for the game night already generously volunteered from some of our members, but there are a few other requests we have. If you can loan any of the following equipment, you get into the game night 100% free. We have tight security at this game night, as we have had at all game nights this year, and will be clearly labeling everyone's equipment with their names, so you will absolutely get your stuff back in perfect condition.

Here is our need list:

-Xboxs & controllers (we're trying to set up 8-player Halo 2)

-DDR Dance Pads for the PS2 (we have one set already volunteered, but we need another set for standby)

-Gamecubes, controllers, and Smash Brothers Melee (we REALLY need controllers!)

-Powerstrips!! (we NEVER have enough of these. The number of outlets on them doesn't matter, every little bit helps. :) )

Thanks soooo much you guys!

-Kate

Halo 3 tourney update and meeting!

Next meeting: Wednesday, October 2 @ 4:00PM in Holman Hall, Room 252

Just a reminder that the next ACM meeting will be tomorrow at 4:00PM in Holman Hall, Room 252.

The Halo 3 tourney date and location have been moved around and confirmed as Wednesday, October 10 from 8:00PM to midnight in Allen Drawing Room. Free food, Halo 3 tournament, get in the running to win XBox 360 games! And learn about getting onto a professional-grade video game planning team!

If you have a 360 that you are willing to loan for this event, you will be put into an exclusive pool of only those who are lending game systems for the event to win a brand-new copy of Halo 3. If you already have this game, Microsoft is sending us 5 more non-Halo games, one of which will be yours if you win. But the only way to enter is to bring your 360. We can arrange pick-up from your room prior to the event, and as always, security will be mad tight.

See you all at the meeting tomorrow for more updates on this event!
