Double Majors:
For students who have a double major, they need to complete a minimum of six courses in the following categories:
1. Arts and Humanities
a. Literary, Visual and Performing Arts
b. World Views and Ways of Knowing
2. Social Sciences and History
a. Behavioral, Social or Cultural Perspectives
b. Social Change in Historical Perspective
3. Natural Science and Quantitative Reasoning
a. Natural Science
b. Quantitative Reasoning
Of those six courses, two must be taken in each of the three main categories outlined above, and every student must complete at least one course in both quantitative reasoning and natural science with laboratory.
Courses in these categories contained within one or both majors count without regard to either of the two subcategories. When a student needs to take more than one course in a category (i.e. Arts and Humanities), each course must have a different prefix; a student is not required to fulfill courses from each subcategory to satisfy the requirements of each category. For example, if a student double majors in English and Psychology, a number of courses will naturally be fulfilled in the subcategories of Behavioral, Social or Cultural Perspectives and Literary, Visual and Performing Arts. In this case, the student would not have to take courses in Social Change in Historical Perspective or World Views and Ways of Knowing.
