Background Check Permission Form
Memo sent to adjunct faculty on Jan 18, 2013
Dear Adjunct Faculty College:
There evidently is some confusion about
the background check authorization form (attached) that some adjunct
faculty have been asked to sign, giving permission to the College to have
IntelliCorp Records conduct a background check on them. The stated policy of
Human Resources (HR) is that all new employees
as well as any adjunct
faculty who have not taught at TCNJ for two semesters must grant that
permission. See the attached "Spring 2013 Users Newsletter."
As mentioned previously, only adjunct faculty who have not taught for two
semesters or are being hired for the first time are required to complete this
form.
I have shared this information with department chairperson as well as program
coordinators.
A few adjunct faculty who were given the forms to complete have also contacted
me with concerns about the type of information being collected by IntelliCorp
and what the firm might do with that information. I am awaiting a response from
HR to an inquiry I sent today about this issue. As soon as I have more
information I will share it with everyone.
If you have any questions about this matter, feel free to contact me or HR.

Determining which adjunct faculty had a one year break in teaching has been left up to each department from what I can tell and some adjunct faculty who have been teaching every semester or who only skipped teaching one semester have mistakenly been given the form to complete.
As mentioned previously, only adjunct faculty who have not taught for two semesters are supposed to complete the form.
I am passing this
information along to all adjunct faculty as well and I wanted to let you know in
the event one of them contacts you or your office.
A few adjunct faculty who
were given the forms to complete have also contacted me with concerns about the

with that information. I am awaiting a response from HR to an inquiry I sent
