Funding for Union-Related Learning Activities
September 30, 2009
Dear AFT Member Colleague:
The Executive Committee of Local 2364 would like to inform AFT members of the Local that financial support is available to enable individuals to enroll in courses or seminars related to unions/labor issues; or to be involved with a self-directed, union-related learning activity.
This new program is not connected with the Career Development program, which is a provision of our contract and funded by the College.
All AFT members of the Local are encouraged to take advantage of this program to become more knowledgeable about unionism and related issues. It is hoped that this will lead to enhanced contributions to the operation of our Local. We are open to many different activities and encourage everyone to think creatively.
Listed below are a few websites with information about offerings in this area. If any of these or others are of interest to you, please contact the AFT office, x2783 or firstname.lastname@example.org with information and an estimate of the approximate cost and we will review and consider your proposal for funding.
Any member of the AFT, full-time, part-time or adjunct faculty, is eligible to be funded for this type of activity. Some programs have been held at various locations around New Jersey while others are offered as online courses.
A funding request should include all available details about the activity, the estimated costs, the perceived benefit of engaging in the activity and the dates it will be offered. The proposal should be submitted via email to email@example.com and be no more than a few pages long. Please scan any important documents and attach them as PDF files.
Individuals who have engaged in activities of this type in the past have found them to be valuable. The Local as well as the AFT in general have benefited from the time and effort expended by those members and we appreciate their dedication to unionism.
If you discover any other opportunities, including those which might not appeal to you but could be of interest to other members, please pass that information along to us.
In Solidarity, Ralph Edelbach, President, TCNJFT, Local 2364, AFT
