Research Overview

The Alcohol Lab at TCNJ studies the environmental events that affect alcohol consumption in laboratory animal models of alcohol abuse.  Past studies (see publications and presentations below) have included studies examining the differences in alcohol and sucrose choices between alcohol preferring (P), alcohol non-preferring (NP), and outbred rats.  We have applied several quantitative models of choice (the generalized matching law, behavioral economics, and delay discounting) to the animals' data to better understand the phenotypic differences between rats selected for high and low alcohol intake.
