Opportunities
What can I learn?
The Alcohol Lab at TCNJ welcomes TCNJ undergraduate students who are
eager to learn about animal models of alcohol abuse in a dynamic,
hands-on learning environment. The Alcohol Lab offers opportunities
for all dedicated students, regardless of prior research experience.
Students will learn a variety of skills including the care and maintenance
of laboratory rats, collecting alcohol consumption data, and data
entry and analysis. Students may also have the opportunity to participate
in poster preparation and presentation, attend scientific meetings,
and help write papers for publication.
Is this right for me?
If you are curious about the variables involved in alcohol abuse and dependence; display commitment, responsibility, motivation, and attention to detail; are seeking research experience in biopsychology; and have completed some introductory psychology courses (see list below), then yes! This experience is right for you!
Okay, I'm interested. What are the prerequisites?
Although not all of these courses are required, the more of them you have taken, the better your learning experience will be.
- Introduction to Psychology (required)
- Methods and Tools (or equivalent required)
- Biopsychology (recommended)
