The Lions Legacy campaign is a Student Giving program which is part of the TCNJ Annual Fund.  The goals of Lions Legacy are two-fold.  First, the campaign aims to increase awareness on the importance of supporting the College, both before and after graduation.  Secondly, it helps to raise funds from current students in order to improve the current state of TCNJ, and helps each Class year leave an enternal legacy at the College.

Did You Know?

Tuition and state funding provide less than a third of TCNJ's revenue.  As you are most likely aware, state financial support for the school has decreased tremendously during the past few years.  Back in 1993, the state funded nearly 60% of TCNJ.  Now for the 2008-2009 school year, the state is only funding 24%.

FAQ

Do students really donate?

Yes!  Each year, students contribute thousands of dollars to the College.  Students who give even a few dollars to the Lions Legacy campaign really add up!  In the past, student contributions have allowed for gifts on campus such as the clocks in the Student Center, benches around campus, and various scholarships.

I already give money to the school when I pay tuition.  Why should I give more than that?

Tuition and fees total about a third of the College’s total revenue.  Think about it this way… If tuition were the only funding source for the College, we would run out of money within the first month of the semester.  The school heavily relies on the support of contributions from students, alumni, and other friends.  TCNJ constantly is receiving accolades for both its quality of education, and its great value.  The College has been called a "Best Buy in College Education" (Barron’s), a "budget Ivy" (Fiske Guide to Colleges), and the “best value” public institution in New Jersey (Kiplinger’s Personal Finance).  So with that being said, you know you’re getting more for your money at TCNJ than anywhere else. 

Where will my money go and what will it do?

This year, we’re looking at putting the gifts into Class Scholarships.  This means that each Class will be able to be annually recognized at the TCNJ forever as their scholarship is given out each year.  Once each Class year reached the endowed scholarship level, the gift would be able to be given for an eternity.  The annual interest from that fund is given in the form of the Class Scholarship.  This happens each year, and as the class continues to donate to the fund, there is more money to give in the form of a scholarship.
