About Alpha Phi Omega
Overview
AΦΩ
is a
co-ed fraternity that has become the most represented undergraduate
college organization in America. Founded on the basic principles
of Leadership, Friendship, and Service, its members are devoted to
improving themselves while aiding the community and making lifelong
friendships.
History
The
first chapter
of ΑΦΩ was formed at Lafayette College in Easton,
Pennslyvania on December 15, 1926. Its creator was a man by the name of
Frank Reed Horton. Horton's experiences in the Navy along with his role
as a Boy Scout scoutmaster formed a strong moral foundation for his
college life. Upon joining the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Horton
discovered many of his Brothers shared his moral aptitude and love of
the Scouting principles. Thus, he set out to form a new collegiate
organization based upon these shared ideals. By his senior year at
Lafayette, Horton and 13 fellow undergraduates had successfully
chartered the Alpha chapter of ΑΦΩ.
Today
Today,
there are
chapters of ΑΦΩ on more than 350 campuses nationwide.
However, the high standards of leadership, friendship, and service
espoused by the fraternity are ones all people of the earth can
appreciate. Thus, ΑΦΩ has spread itself worldwide with
active chapters in the Phillipines, Canada, and Australia. In living up
to the high standards the fraternity seeks to promote,
ΑΦΩ's alumni have gone on to become some of the most
distinguished leaders of today's world. In fact, Presidents John F.
Kennedy and Bill Clinton were proud to call themselves members of this
organization. Interested in becoming ΑΦΩ's next proud
