I did my Junior Professional Experience at Community Middle School in West Windsor-Plainsboro school district in New Jersey this Spring 2007 semester. I was placed in a sixth grade classroom by my professors Dr. Gosselin and Dr. Cunningham, with partner Laura Calabrese and co-operating teacher Mrs. Raisa Donnard. We prepared and taught a unit on theoretical and experimental probability. This really was a wonderful experience because it allowed us to be very interactive with our classes, using many different forms of manipulatives and group activities. I learned so many valuable lessons in this short amount of time not only about lesson planning and classroom management, but about how gratifying it truly can be to work with students on a daily basis. I hope to take what I learned and continue to build upon these lessons during my student teaching and beyond so that I can be the kind of teacher that students learn from and enjoy having.
