All TCNJ BFA students must participate in a faculty review midway through their undergraduate tenure at the TCNJ Art Department.
Attendance is required from the following students:
1. Students in their sophomore year who started as freshman at TCNJ.
2. Transfer students in their junior year who have not had a review at the
TCNJ Art Department.
Goals:
1. To give the student an opportunity to display and discuss her/his work
in order to receive constructive feedback.
2. To receive feedback from the student on the quality of education at The
College of New Jersey.
Assessment Guidelines:
1. Assessment is based on the primary objectives of the courses already
fulfilled.
Requirements:
1. The student is to present two works from each studio course taken.
Additionally three more works of personal choice should be presented that
reflect one’s creative interests.
2. The student is to present three copies of a written artist statement
(one copy for each faculty member) that articulate the student’s learning
experience at TCNJ.
Structure:
1. Each student will sign up for a 15-20 minute meeting time with a panel
of faculty.
2. Sign up sheets will be available after spring break in the Art
Department Office
3. Each student will meet with a panel of three faculty members (two from
the major, and one from a related area). The faculty will vote to decide
if the student passes the review. If the students fails her/his review, a
second review will be required the following year.
4. The reviews are only Pass/Fail.
