Stage Floor

The stage floor is sprung on 2X4 sleepers completely isolated by neoprene pads from hard contact with any rigid surface. The deck is comprised of 2" thick tongue and groove pine flooring, and the surface is Masonite. The floor is painted black.

Orchestra Pit

The orchestra pit is located between the front of the audience seating area and the stage. It is 9' below stage level and fully open. The pit will hold 20-25 musicians depending on instrumentation and configuration. It was renovated in 2004 and is now equipped with a full pit Gala Spiralift that can elevate the pit to stage level in less than 80 seconds. The lift is typically left in extended stage position unless a pit orchestra is being used.

Control Booth (Third floor)

The booth is located above the balcony seating area on the third floor of the theatre. It is accessed from the front of house stairs. Sound, lighting, and communications systems and control are located there.

Lobby (KE-103)

The lobby and vestibule are where the box office is located and where audience members enter the theater. Special arrangements must be made for tables and supplies as may be needed in the Lobby. Food service is not permitted. Special permission is required for use of the Box Office Facilities.

Lower Lobby (KE-001)

The lower lobby is where the primary audience restrooms are located. It also serves as an ideal meet and greet location for patrons.

Loading Access

The loading dock is 3'-11" off of the ground. Stage access is through the scene shop through doors that are 9'-10" high by 7'-8" wide. There is a tight turn onto the stage. A 3'-0" wide aluminum ramp is available for loading off trucks that are up to 18” higher or lower than the dock. Access to the loading dock requires a sidewalk permit from Campus Police and is made via the walkway between Armstrong Hall and the Science Complex on the west side of campus.
