Fun Facts

It only takes 17 muscles to smile but 43 to frown.

According to German researchers and other studies, the risk of heart
attack is higher on Monday mornings than on any other day of the week!

Did you know that the only letter not appearing on the periodic table is
 the letter J?

There are nearly 45 miles of nerves in the skin of a human being. That's
like the distance from Princeton to Philly!

You've heard of having a sixth sense, but you may also have a third eye.
Eastern religions sometimes portray people with an eye in the middle of
their forehead. Turns out, that's located in about the same spot as the
pineal gland in your brain. That pineal gland actually senses light the
 way your eyes would!

Did you know that a baby is born with approximately 300 bones, but the
average adult human being has only 206 bones? The difference comes from a
number of small bones, such as the sacrum and coccyx, that fuse together
 during growth.

The biggest threat to your hearing is loud noise. Normal conversation60
 decibels | Snoring = 85 decibels | Lawn mower= 90 decibels. Eight hours
of exposure to 90 decibels or more could cause damage. So, essentially,
that's like saying IF YOU SLEEP NEXT TO A PERSON WHO SNORES LOUDLY FOR
MORE THAN 8 HOURS, YOU COULD POSSIBLY GO DEAF- oops, sorry, didn't mean to
 shout!

Do you ever forget things during a stressful situation that you should
have remembered? Cortisol, a class of steroid hormones secreted by the
adrenal glands during stressful situations, interferes with the function
of neurotransmitters, the chemicals that brain cells use to communicate
with each other. Thus, excessive cortisol interferes with thinking and
 retrieving memories.

The total length of DNA present in an adult human being is equivalent to
nearly 70 trips from the Earth to the sun and back!

We are about 1 cm shorter during the evening than in the morning. Because
of the pull of gravity on your spinal column, layers of cartilage in the
joints get compressed during the day. Haha, so convince your friends that
you can get taller overnight...precisely measure your height before you go
to bed, and then immediately after you wake up...see what happens and just
nod when you see their surprised looks!~

Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never
 stop growing!!

Studies have shown that eating breakfast with high protein food (eggs,
dairy, etc.) and high-fiber starch (whole wheat bread, healthy cereal,
etc.) can improve memory and enhance attention. Mom was right all along!

"The average human body contains enough: iron to make a 3 inch nail,
sulfur to kill all fleas on an average dog, carbon to make 900 pencils,
potassium to fire a toy cannon, fat to make 7 bars of soap, phosphorous to
make 2,200 match heads, and water to fill a ten-gallon tank."
