FSP Courses & CEL: Youth Development Institute

A Collaboaration Involving 6 FSP Courses

On November 28th, over 100 students from Bonner Community Scholar sites in Trenton visited campus and participated in their own experiential education “conference”. On that day, students from 6 FSP courses delivered interesting and enriching workshops to the Trenton Youth.

Young Trenton students came from a number of locations, including the Boys and Girls Club, the Young Scholars Institute, Columbus Elementary School and the Academic Sports Academy (at Hedgepeth-Williams Middle School). Each group attended at least two sessions.

The session topics and Professors are listed below.

  • Video Games: Design and Serious Games (Ault)
  • Becoming A Community Leader (Fehn)
  • Intro to World Religions: Islam (Glenn Steinberg)
  • Becoming a Real Man (Robertson)
  • Creating Urban Parks for All (Marcia Steinberg)
  • A Journey to Truth (Williams)

Prior to November 28th, most of the FSP students visited a community partner site and engaged in service actvities to them get acquainted with their audience. A local cable news program taped and covered this successful day.
