2007 Business Plan Competition (BPC)
The Grand Finale - Congratulations to Andrew Pezzimenti for winning first prize in the 2007 Business Plan Competition for his Regional Clothing proposal.
The Business Plan Competition
In Spring 2007, the School of Business and Small Business Development Center at The College of New Jersey co-sponsored a campus-wide Business Plan Competition. Students from all TCNJ disciplines were encouraged to submit proposals ranging from profit or non-profit business opportunities, to corporate philanthropy initiatives to franchise concepts.
Business Plan entries were evaluated by an independent panel of judges, representing both the campus and business communities. All participants had full access to an Advisory Team coordinated by the SBDC.
The Competition began on February 13th, with a Kickoff Reception in the School of Business Lounge. The winners were announced and cash prizes were awarded at the Grand Finale on April 17th.

BPC Mission Statement
The College of New Jersey Business Plan Contest aims to educate TCNJ students in the process of creating and evaluating new business ventures. Its goal is to prepare students for opportunities in entrepreneurship sometime during their careers. In addition, it is also designed to familiarize participants with all the unique resources that TCNJ has to offer.
Competition entries may include nonprofit, for-profit, or hybrid model business plans with a central focus on the creation of social value in a significant and sustained manner. The Business Plan Competition aims to encourage plans that, through an understanding of the economic and social drivers of their model, promise to deliver high performance in the pursuit of their objectives.
The Competition's focus is primarily educational—that participants apply concepts toward and learn about the venture creation process through their individual or team's efforts, advising from advisory resources being made available to all applicants, and presentations to and feedback from judges. While plans are judged on their potential to become the basis of a viable new venture, judging criteria will not consider the likelihood of implementation. There is no obligation for winners to implement their plan. Whether participants go on to implement their business plan or not, it is our mission that the experience will be an exciting, challenging, and rewarding one.
