Experiencing Art: Digital Art Module | AFA101-02 | Fall 2006 | Friday 12:30-4:20 pm

For this class we will be creating a self-portrait collage using Adobe Photoshop. You will need to gather or create images and manipluate them in Photoshop. The overall theme of the Experiencing Art class is identity, and I encourage you to stretch the definition of self-portrait with this module's project.

I'm only normally on campus for our class. Please get in touch if you'd like to arrange a meeting.

Materials:
There is no required text for this class. However, the assigned reading for our module is chapter 4 of "practices of looking", Sturken / Cartwright, 2001. This is available on SOCS under the "Resources" section. Please download the pdf file and read online. Refrain from printing the file unless reading on a computer screen presents a hardship to you.

You will need some way to backup your class work. This could be a variety of devices, including: Firewire or USB hard drive, CD-RWs / DVD-RWs, USB keychain drive, network drive. You are responsible for backing up your work! Save early, save often. You will also need a sketch book, nothing fancy. Additionally, there is a lab fee for using the computers and printing with the color printer. I'll explain these fees in class.

Grading:
This module is worth 25% of the overall course grade. Within this module 80% of the grade will be from the project and exercises, and 20% from class participation and written assignments.
