TCNJ Receives President’s Honor Roll Award for Service

The Corporation for National and Community Service named The College of New Jersey to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll With Distinction for exemplary service efforts and service to disadvantaged youth. The College is the only institution in New Jersey to garner the "Honor Roll With Distinction" award.

 

 


ICAN provides safety net for victims of sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking

ICAN logoTwo years ago, the College established an Initial Contact Advisory Network (ICAN) to serve as a resource for victims of sexual assault. This past January, a new core of volunteers was recruited and trained, making it easier for victims to find someone to whom they can turn to for help.

 

 


TCNJ student travels to israel as part of future leaders study mission

terence grado picture Terence Grado, a junior political science and philosophy double major, traveled to Israel in December as part of the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) Second Annual Current and Future Leaders Study Mission. The trip gave him the opportunity to witness the current situation facing Israelis and Palestinians and get a close-up look at the issues as the peace process launched in Annapolis last November begins to unfold.

On Wednesday, February 6, a panel of experts from TCNJ’s faculty spoke on the American health care system from various perspectives. With health care reform being one of the central issues in this election year, the symposium provided a forum for the community to learn about this complex issue. Listen to a podcast of the forum. tcnj junior named "New Jersey King of Campus Comedy"

adam mamawalaJunior communication studies major Adam Mamawala was named the “New Jersey King of Campus Comedy” after winning the 2007 New Jersey Comedy Festival this past December. In addition to a cash prize, he’ll have the chance to open up for a professional comedian and to perform on MTV’s Spring Break.

Students from the Women in Learning and Leadership (WILL) Program, pictured at left with feminist icon Gloria Steinem, spearheaded TCNJ’s participation in the “Freedom on Our Terms” Conference held last fall at Hunter College. TCNJ students and faculty members contributed extensively to the event, held to honor the 30th anniversary of the National Women’s Conference and to “reignite the fight for equality,” said WILL Director
Mary Lynn Hopps.  

 


TCNJ Tops List of New Jersey Publics in Kiplinger’s Personal Finance 2008 “Best Value” Ranking

Once again, The College of New Jersey is the top public college in the state in Kiplinger's "Best Value" rankings. The College ranked No. 23 for in-state tuition, and No. 5 for out-of-state tuition, out of a pool of more than 500 public four-year colleges and universities. Schools on the list were ranked according to academic quality, cost, and financial aid.
