NJFEA Conference and 2008 Urban Teacher Academy
With an ongoing national teacher shortage, especially in the areas of science, mathematics, special education and world language, The College of New Jersey took action by hosting the New Jersey Future Educators Association (FEA) Conference on May 23. The conference, sponsored by TCNJ in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Education, was the first of its kind to be held in New Jersey.
The College of New Jersey’s Urban Teacher Academy (UTA) is offered to high school juniors interested in pursuing careers in urban education. This intensive, two week summer program is designed to attract students to teaching in urban districts and/or in high shortage subject areas through exposure to a curriculum and practicum experiences that focus on teaching.
