Welcome to the Early Medieval Forum, an association of scholars
and students in the humanities and social sciences whose work focuses
on Europe and the Mediterranean ca. 500-1200
C.E.
The EMF seeks to increase
awareness of recent and ongoing research in early medieval studies and to facilitate
contacts and the exchange
of information among those interested in the field.
In addition to this page,
the association operates a listserv through which early
medievalists raise topics for discussion, seek assistance
with research queries, and announce forthcoming lectures, conferences,
and colloquia, recent publications, and other events of
interest.
Click here to access the important catalog by Burton van Name Edwards, "The Manuscript
Transmission of Carolingian Biblical Commentaries." I am grateful to the author for
permission to post this on the EMF site.
Also noteworthy is the Historical Archive on the website
of Kornbluth Photography, an excellent
resource for extraordinarily beautiful photographs of late antique and early medieval artwork and artifacts.
Below is a
directory of other Internet resources for the study of the early middle ages and
more broadly the medieval period.
If you have additional websites to suggest,
please feel free to contact me (Celia Chazelle), preferably
by email. Email me, too, in order
to join or leave the EMF listserv.
