The Clinic is an outpatient center that offers supervised counseling and family therapy services with the focus on:

Evaluation and treatment of family, couple, and individual problems

Graduate education of counselors and postgraduate education of marriage and family therapist

Research on family systems and treatment

Our services are provided by master's and post-master's level student clinicians under the careful supervision of licensed therapists. TCNJ Faculty are also available to provide counseling and family therapy.


The Clinic has:

Family/Marriage Counseling

counseling Many families and couples experience difficulties at various developmental and transitional points in their lives. Marriage is often an anticipated and a difficult adjustment. The arrival of children brings change not only to the family, but to the couple as well.

Entry into school may create academic or social problems for children. Adolescence tends to create stress and anxiety in the family. Losses of all kinds are sources of strain on family members.

Family therapists are educated and trained to understand and treat the family and couple system in the social context in which they live and work. Not only is the family assessed to determine the areas of difficulty, but so are the larger systems which may be contributing to the identified prob

Communication problems between family members

School or work related problems affecting the family

Problems with child and adolescent behavior

Substance abuse and its effects on the family

Abusive behavior in the family

Couples' Therapy:

Treatment of couples' problems including:

  • Communication problems

  • Substance abuse

  • Work or school related stress

  • Sexual dysfunction

  • Infidelity

  • Abusive behavior

  • Adaptation to predictable changes in couple development

  • Life cycle changes

  • Other relevant issues pertaining to couples
