The College of New Jersey's Commencement is set for Friday, May 16, 2008. Commencement is a wonderful celebration of your accomplishments and planning is underway to ensure a festive and enjoyable day for all.
This web site has been created as a resource to help keep you informed of the day's activities and logistics. The site will be continuously updated as Commencement approaches. Please visit the site periodically to learn about the scheduled events and other helpful information. The site includes important information about lodging, parking, the rain plan, as well as "Frequently Asked Questions."
Highlights
President's Reception
President Gitenstein will host a reception as part of Commencement 2008. The reception will be held on the lawn between Paul Loser Hall and the Music Building from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We are pleased to invite you and your guests to the festivities.
Main Ceremony
The Main Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Lions' Stadium. All details regarding the Procession, Conferring of Degrees, and Recessional will be available on this web site. Graduates are asked to begin lining up, in cap and gown, by 10:00 on C Street.
Simulcast
The Main Ceremony on Commencement Day be available via simulcast at the following location: Brower Student Center Atrium
Department Ceremonies
Department Ceremonies will take place before and after the Main Ceremony. Morning Departmental Ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. Afternoon Departmental Ceremonies will begin at 1:00 p.m. Departmental Ceremonies will last approximately one hour. Learn about specific details on your Department Ceremony time and location.
Inclement Weather Plan
In the event of inclement weather, the Main Ceremony at 11:00 in Lions' Stadium will not be held. The individual Department Ceremonies will be held as scheduled. The President's Receptions will be relocated to Eickhoff Hall. Learn about specific details regarding the Rain Plan.
Also Featured at the President's Reception
Legacy Photographics will take portraits and family photos at the President's Reception. You do not need to reserve a time or pre-purchase—simply find the photographer on the Loser Lawn and have your picture taken in your cap and gown. Pick-up of the pre-purchased Department of Biology flower bouquets will be available at the President's Reception.
The College of New Jersey's Book Store will be selling flower bouquets at the President's Reception. Offerings will also include TCNJ Alumni merchandise.
