Every human child must learn the universe fresh. Every stockdog pup carries the universe with him. Humans have externalized their wisdom--stored it in museums, libraries, the expertise of the learned. Dog wisdom is inside the blood and bones. Donald McCaig

Talya, our Doberman, has been part of the family for almost 10 years. In June, 1996, my son John wanted to adopt a dog (a mixed breed) that was in need of a home. I contacted Animal Friends for Education and Welfare (A.F.E.W.) to find out what dogs they were trying to find homes for. That is when Scooby, a Black Labrador and Rottweiler mix, about 18 months old, joined the family.

Here is Scooby again, with Bailey. Bailey is a mix breed, possibly Boxer, Pitbull, German Shephard, Great Dane?? Any or all mentioned, if you have any suggestions, let us know. He joined the family in January, four months old and weighing only 13 pounds, in just two months he is up to 33 pounds. We were going to foster Bailey for A.F.E.W. (which we joined after adopting Scooby) until a good home came along, but we fell in love with him and my daughter Michelle could not bear to part with him. He is here to stay!!

EXTRA NOTE:
A great website to search is PETFINDER. Pet Finder is an on-line, searchable database of New Jersey-area animals in need of homes. It is also an internet directory of the animal shelters and adoption organizations in the New Jersey area that provide postings of the animals they have available for adoption and any other information the organization wishes to share on its web page. Pet Finder also includes Pet Wanted, an area for the public to post information about specific pets they would like to adopt and Links to on-line reference information about specific breeds. Individuals may post pets that are homeless on the Post-a-Pet page. Pet Finder is updated daily.
