Interested in stand up? Want to be crowned the King or Queen of Campus Comedy? TCNJ & CUBRat are proud to host the third annual NJ Comedy Festival! TCNJ is in a unique position this year seeing as the first and second year winners were TCNJ Students! Winners of the contest will perform at Rutgers University at finals. The winner of his contest will be crowned New Jersey Campus King or Queen of Campus Comedy”, receive a $1,000.00 grand prize, a scholarship to a comedy academy in New York City and perform as an opening act at one of New Jersey’s leading comedy clubs, The Stress Factory. Playlist Night features Mark DeRose, a singer-songwriter with a sweet folk sound, and Huck, a 26 year old Long Island native who plays with a blend of soul, rock and jazz influences.They'll be playing covers together (hence "playlist") and performing solo as well. Additionally, these two will also be featured in CUB's first overnight bus trip to the SnowBall event coming up on February, so come check out a preview of what you will hear at this big music festival/snow tubing event. Both artists have traveled across the country playing colleges, coffeehouses and stadiums with tremendous reception!
Do the sounds of Nintendo remind you of your younger years? Then come check out New York City natives Anamanaguchi at the Rat! This electro/punk band is dedicated to playing "loud, fast, music with a hacked NES from 1985." Matt Santry is a PA native musician of the pop-rock variety who made the rare yet intriguing transition from social worker to musician. He has performed in over 400 venues from LA to NYC and his audience continues to grow. This is an off-broadway production about the Latina American experience. Six Latinas star in this play as they try to make sense of what it means to be a Hispanic woman in the United States. The event will include a 60min production followed by a 20 minute question and answer period.The event coincides with Women's History Month and Latin Awareness Month.
Break dancing show complete with projector, live drummer, DJ and lights. The dancers provide a mixture of street dance and percussion to create an urban inspired entertaining show!
