The photographs in this collection were produced for my undergraduate work. In the "Constructed Environment" project, I depict current social issues. I began with a very specific scope, the prevalence of bullying among youths, while slowly increasing my scope to much broader social issues. For example, grim high current unemployment rates locally, lead to foreclosures and bank failures on a national level. I also included tragedies in other countries, such as the dolphin slaughter in Japan and global warming and the ramifications that holds for humans, wildlife, and our environment. I greatly focus on the fragility of our planet.

In the "Narrative", entitled "Woody Goes to Paris", I feature a wooden mannequin as he studies and dreams about going to Paris to become a painter. In his travels, he enjoys food and wine, takes in a few Parisian sites, gets taught the true art of painting by a master, and returns home to realize his dream as an artist.

My "Self-Directed" piece is a means of self expression which stems from my passion for conceptual photography. I am interested in how shapes and spaces interact and define each other. This fuels my fascination with the abstract and its catharsis is pictured in liquid photography. Using liquid as a medium proved extremely challenging. Trying to capture a moment in time suddenly had new meaning, as I found the free flowing elements compelling and exhilarating.

The "Random" area provides a small sampling of my joie de vivre weekly photography shoots around the tri-state area. In this eclectic selection, you will find some of the interesting images I have collected. You can find the full collection at http://www.flickr.com/photos/linda_magee/
