Helping children reach their DREAMS.

The purpose of Devoted to Reaching Expectations and Mentoring Students (DREAMS) is to bring together a diverse group of TCNJ students who share a commitment to serving the teachers and students of the surrounding communities led by teacher candidates from the School of Education. The club will provide opportunities for mentoring and tutoring students, developing curriculum for after school programs, promoting awareness of surrounding underprivileged areas, and supporting local public schools. In addition to volunteering, opportunities for children, parents, and teachers to visit the campus for interactive programs will be offered to build upon the college’s positive reputation in the community, to provide opportunities for TCNJ students to participate on campus, and to nurture the idea of college in the minds of students from urban areas. DREAMS will also be able to provide programmatic and social support for Urban Education majors. We will be heavily involved in the upkeep of the Urban Education Center in Forcina Hall and will sponsor faculty speakers to educate the campus community about problems facing students from urban areas as well as to foster faculty-student collaboration.
