FROM COLLEGE UNDERGRAD TO CORPORATE LEADER
It was not a single event that brought about the creation of Delta Sigma Pi over 90 years ago,
but the association of five students at New York University who used a common path to their
homes after classes. These five men were motivated by the same forces that have caused
others to organize fraternities; namely, common goals and the desire to pursue these goals
together.
Plans were made by these five men in the Spring and Summer of 1907 to form a social club
composed of students in the School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance of New York University.
Regular sessions of this group were held at one of the ice cream parlors in Central Park,
which was operated by the father of one of the five men. When fall came, the time
set for the formal launching of this club, one of the five members accepted the pledge of a
Greek letter organization at New York University and dropped from the group. This incident
changed the thinking of the remaining four, and the existing plans for the club were abandoned
in favor of a Greek letter fraternity. Thus, Delta Sigma Pi was created on November 7, by
Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello, Henry Albert Tienken, and Harold Valentine Jacobs.

Currently, there are 255 collegiate chapters and over 50 alumni chapters, with over 200,000 initiates.
Delta Sigma Pi continues to expand each year, not only in the number of chapters and members,
but also in its scope of activities and influence in the world of business.
The Mu Omega Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi
was founded at The College of New Jersey on May 22, 1993.
Being a professional business fraternity, all brothers are enrolled in the school of business. We take the
same classes and cram for the same exams. We're in the same situation as every business major at TCNJ, and
the brothers know they can count on each other to know which classes (or professors!) are the best, to help
with assignments, or just to share experiences. We're always seeing each other in the hallways, in the labs,
in class. It's a great feeling.
These same brothers eventually graduate and enter the business world, which means one huge advantage for the
current brothers: CONNECTIONS. Every brother, at some time or another, has received help getting an
interview, internship, or job from an alumni. Being a brother of Delta Sigma Pi is much more than just
words on a resume.
Currently, we have 39 brothers and are going strong. Along with various business and career-related activites,
we sponser Dining Out Professional Style each spring. Held in the student center, students get to mingle with
the area's professionals and tune their networking skills while learning proper dining etiquitte. Our philanthropies
include Adopt-a-Highway and the Cure for Cancer, which we support by holding an annual talent show in the Rat.
And don't think we don't know how to have a good time! We're always hanging out, partying, and of course there's
the semi formal, where you never know what may happen!
Deltasigs are ambitious, hard-working, and serious about our future, but let's face it: college is about what
happens outside of class.
